CombiMatrix CEO Amit Kumar has been appointed to the board of the NanoBusiness Alliance, an industry association representing firms in the nanotechnology field.
Insilicos, a Seattle, Wash.-based biomedical software firm, announced this week that Ruedi Aebersold has joined its scientific advisory board. Aebersold is currently a professor of systems biology at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
Caliper Life Sciences has named Thomas Higgins as its executive vice president and chief financial officer, the Hopkinton, Mass.-based company said last week. The appointment will become effective in early January 2005.
Higgins currently serves as executive vice president of operations and chief financial officer for VI Technologies. Prior to this, he held various positions at Cabot Corporation and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The International Society for Computational Biology has announced its officers for the term beginning Jan. 21, 2005: Burkhard Rost of Columbia University and Barbara Bryant of Millennium Pharmaceuticals have been elected as vice presidents; Toni Kazic of the University of Missouri, Columbia, was elected secretary; and David Rocke of the University of California, Davis, was elected treasurer. Michael Gribskov of Purdue University will serve his second term as president.
