Alan Barber, Timothy Fong, Linda Rogers, David Busam, William Sims

Alan Barber joins BioTrove of Woburn, Mass., as chief financial officer, the company said last week. Barber joins the company after serving as CFO for Omnisonics Medical Technologies after a series of financial management positions at Innovation Chain, MyWay.com, Medical Foods, and Ergo Science Corp. Previously, Barber was a partner at the accounting firm Coopers & Lybrand. Barber is a certified public accountant and holds a BS in accounting from Florida State University.


Timothy Fong joined Cellerant Therapeutics of Palo Alto, Calif., as vice president of research, while Linda Rogers was named senior director of global clinical operations, the company said last week.

Fong previously was vice president for discovery research at SangStat Medical Corporation. Rogers, a registered nurse, was most recently director of clinical operations at SangStat.

Prior to SangStat, Fong worked for Aventis, Gencell, and Chiron. He holds a BS and an MS from the University of California, Los Angeles. He was postdoctoral fellow at The Salk Institute for Biological Studies and the University of California, San Diego. Prior to SangStat, Rogers was director of clinical operations at Pharmacyclics. She holds an RN from South Chicago Community Hospital School of Nursing, a BS from Barat College, and a master’s of management from John Fitzgerald Kennedy University School of Management.


CeMines of Evergreen, Colo., last week named David Busam as vice president of finance and administration and chief financial officer. Busam comes to the company after five years at Denver-based Qwest Communications International where he was senior director of corporate finance. He holds BS and MS degrees from Auburn University.


William Sims was named as chief financial officer of Perlegen Sciences, the company said last week. Previously, he was CFO for Clontech Laboratories. Following Clontech’s acquisition by Becton Dickinson, he served as vice president of finance and business operations. Sims has also served as CFO for the Palo Alto Medical Foundation. Previously, he held senior finance positions with Syntex Corporation. He holds an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and a BS in business from Oregon State University.
