Affymetrix is offering its mouse 430 2.0 Array, a single microarray covering 39,000 transcripts, which were previously available as a multiple array set. It has 45,000 probe sets and 981,228 distinct oligonucleotide features covering over 39,000 transcripts and variants, including over 34,000 well-substantiated mouse genes. The product also includes eleven pairs of oligonucleotide probes used to measure the level of transcription of each sequence. The mouse GeneChip requires 200 microliters of hybridization volume. The sequences used for the probes were derived from GenBank, dbEST, and RefSeq. The array requires the company’s GeneChip 3000 scanner, enabled for high-resolution scanning, and the GeneChip operating system v1.1.1. The mouse chip is available for purchase in sets of 2, 6, or 30 arrays.
