Zyomyx Buys 903e Plasma Etch Tool from Tegal for Help in Protein-Biochip Development

NEW YORK, Dec. 30 - Tegal said it has sold  Zyomyx one of its 903e plasma etch systems, and said the company expects to install the tool in early January.

Zyomyx will use the tool to create protein-profiling biochips, Tegal said in a statement last week.

The 903e is used to manufacture biochip components used in high-throughput, massively parallel protein-analysis systems, according to Tegal. The deal marks the first time the two companies have worked together.
