Early this fall, Genome Technology surveyed scientists to find out about their funding patterns and other grant-related information. Of the people we contacted, 344 filled out our survey and gave us some insight into the funding process. More than half of respondents said their labs had fewer than four grants, while two percent said their labs had more than 20 grants. Nearly two-thirds of respondents told us that their research had shifted in the last five years based on changes in funding priorities.
