Deadlines

March

March 11 -- Last day to submit posters for the Cancer Proteomics World Congress, scheduled to start April 26 in Philadephia.

March 16 -- Full applications due for NSF’s Assembling the Tree of Life program (07-535). Teams of investigators focused on resolving phylo-
genetic relationships for large groups of organisms are encouraged to apply, and funding is available for data acquisition, analysis, and algorithm development in phyloinformatics.

March 25 -- Letters of intent due for Epigenetic Mechanisms in the Neurobiology of Alcohol Tolerance and Dependence (RFA-AA-07-011), offered through NIAAA. The program aims to better understand how epigenetic mechanisms contribute to the physiology and behavior of alcohol dependence.

March 29 -- Full applications due for two new ENCODE opportunities, a data coordination center (RFA-HG-07-031) and creating ENCODE for the human genome (RFA-HG-07-030).

April

April 1 -- Posters due for Advances in DNA Sequencing and Synthesis, which will occur May 15-16 in Edinburgh. Craig Venter will be the plenary speaker.

April 2 -- Abstracts due for the Protein Society’s 21st Annual Symposium, scheduled to start July 21 in Boston.

April 6 -- Poster submission deadline for the 15th Annual International Conference on Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology. This year, ISMB will be held in conjunction with the European Conference on Computational Biology in Vienna starting July 21.

April 16 -- Full proposals due in response to NSF’s Cyberinfrastructure for the Biological Sciences: Plant Science Cyberinfrastructure Collaborative (06-594). The goal of this program is to create an integrated computational infrastructure to support plant biologists working across disciplines.

April 30 -- Deadline for full proposals for NSF’s Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation opportunity (06-596). This new program aims to fund emerging areas quickly, and specifically requests applications for cellular and biomolecular engineering.

May

May 17 -- Application deadline for Collaborations with National Centers for Biomedical Computing (PAR-07-249), a grant opportunity offered through the NIH Roadmap. The program aims to fund research from individual investigators working in conjunction with previously established national centers.

May 29 -- Applications due for NCI program (RFA-CA-07-034), Innovative Technologies for Molecular Analysis of Cancer, one of a number of components of the institute’s Innovative Molecular Analysis Technologies program.

May 29 -- Letters of intent due for NHGRI and NIEHS opportunity: Human Genes and the Environment Research Training Program (RFA-ES-07-002). The program supports predoctoral, postdoctoral, and short-term research training to advance the Genes and the Environment Initiative.
