Deadlines
February
February 1 — Closing date for applications to the DOE's systems biology research program, Genomics: GTL. Project goals include developing science and technology to use microbial and plant systems for cost-effective renewable energy production, carbon sequestration, and environmental remediation. Award ceiling is set at $125,000,000.
February 2 — Deadline to get papers in for the ISMB/ECCB 2007 meeting, set to begin July 21 in Vienna, Austria. The conference will be jointly hosted by the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB) and the European Conference on Computational Biology (ECCB).
February 8 — Research papers are due for the Data Integration in the Life Sciences conference, to be held June 27-29 in Philadelphia.
February 13 — Abstracts due by 4 pm ET for the American Society of Gene Therapy's 10th Annual Meeting.
February 14 — Last day to get applications in for the USDA's National Research Initiative in Plant Biology: Biochemistry. This program seeks to generate basic knowledge about biochemical processes, pathways, and interactions in agriculturally and economically important plants and related organisms.
February 14 — Late-breaking abstracts due for the American Association for Cancer Research 27th Annual Meeting. Advance registration for the meeting will end March 9.
February 14 — Abstracts due for the Biology of Genomes meeting, which is set to take place May 8 to May 12 at the Cold Spring Harbor Lab.
February 15 — Due date for proposals regarding the USDA's Biotechnology Risk Assessment Research Grants Program. The program's purpose is to assist federal regulatory agencies in making decisions about the effects of introducing genetically modified organisms into the environment.
February 16 — Abstracts due for HUGO's 11th Human Genome Meeting in Montreal starting May 21.
February 16 — Full proposals due in response to the Frontiers in Integrative Biological Research program (06-579). FIBR supports projects to identify major under-studied or unanswered questions in biology and use integrated research tools and concepts to address such questions. NSF is specifically targeting young scientists trained in an interdisciplinary environment or in non-biological disciplines for this program.
February 20 — Applications due in response to Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in Biology and Medicine (PAR-07-033), an NIH-backed funding opportunity to enhance nanoscience and nanotech research in biology and medicine.
February 23 — Applications due in response to the Structural Genomics Knowledgebase (RFA-GM-06-004), an NIGMS initiative to develop a protein structure database. NIGMS anticipates making one award of up to $2.5 million.
March
March 1 — Poster submission deadline for the 11th Annual International Conference on Research in Computational Molecular Biology (RECOMB), scheduled to kick off on April 21 in San Francisco.
March 8 — Full proposals due in response to NSF's Microbial Genome Sequencing Program FY 2007 (07-531). This solicitation invites proposals that support high-throughput sequencing of microorganisms, as well as those that develop strategies and tools to make extant sequences more widely available.
March 11 — Posters due for the RNAi World Congress, set for Philadephia, beginning April 24.
March 11 — Last day to submit posters for the Cancer Proteomics World Congress, scheduled to start April 26 in Philadephia.
March 16 — Full applications due for NSF's Assembling the Tree of Life program (07-535). Teams of investigators focused on resolving phylo-
genetic relationships for large groups of organisms are encouraged to apply, and funding is available for data acquisition, analysis, and algorithm development in phyloinformatics.
March 23 — Posters due for the ISMB/ECCB 2007 meeting, set to begin July 21 in Vienna.
April
April 1 — Posters due for Advances in DNA Sequencing and Synthesis, which will occur May 15-16 in Edinburgh.
April 16 — Full proposals due in response to NSF's Cyberinfrastructure for the Biological Sciences: Plant Science Cyberinfrastructure Collaborative (06-594). The goal of this program is to create an integrated computational infrastructure to support plant biologists working across disciplines.
