Tripos Mulls Strategic Options; M&A, Splitting Businesses on Table

NEW YORK, Jan. 10 (GenomeWeb News) - Tripos retained financial advisory firm Seven Hills Partners to explore strategic alternatives to enhance growth prospects for its core businesses, the company said yesterday.

Tripos is considering a range of options, including mergers and acquisitions, becoming a private company, and separating its informatics and research businesses.

The company wants to provide "continuing innovation and high-value offerings" as well as a "solid investment" for shareholders, according to CEO John McAlister.

In late November, Tripos announced the end of its four-year collaboration with Pfizer.
