TIGR, Cold Spring Harbor, NCGR to Develop Plant Semantic Information Network

NEW YORK, Sept. 29 (GenomeWeb News) - The National Center for Genomic Resources, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and the Institute for Genomic Research have received a $1.7 million grant from the National Science Foundation to jointly develop a semantic web development called Virtual Plant Information Network, NCGR said today.

The VPIN will allow several plant information websites to associate their data and services with publicly accessible ontologies.

The project is an extension of two previously NSF-funded semantic web developments, BioMoby and Semantic Moby. It also builds on the Legume Information Network.
