Thermo Fisher to Sell Nanogen Products for Gene Expression Applications

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Thermo Fisher Scientific will be the exclusive provider of certain Nanogen products that are used for gene expression experiments, Nanogen said today.

Nanogen said that Thermo Fisher would sell custom and standard catalog products that are based on its second-generation probe technology for real-time PCR applications. The probe technology incorporates Nanogen’s minor groove binder technology and is used for quantitative detection of DNA and RNA sequences.

Nanogen said that the MGB technology is a crescent-shaped molecule that stabilizes a detection-target duplex when coupled with an oligonucleotide probe.

Nanogen currently sells more than 35 reagent and kit products for clinical diagnostic use under the brand names MGB Alert and Q-PCR Alert.
