NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Tecan said today that it will collaborate with Innovatis to jointly market robotic cell culture workstations and cell detection devices.
Under the agreement, the companies will co-market Innovatis' Cellavista automated image-based cellular analysis platform and Tecan's Freedom EVO platform. Used together, Tecan said, the platforms allow automation of a wide range of cell-related processes including cell line development, cell proliferation, stem cell differentiation, and cell-based assays.
Matthew Robin, Tecan's senior VP and head of liquid handling and robotics, said that most Cellavista customers "recognize the advantages of having a liquid handling and cell culture system that complements the detection capabilities of the Cellavista."
Last month, Roche said that it would acquire Bielefeld, Germany-based Innovatis for €15 million ($20.5 million) in a bid to strengthen its position in the bioproduction and cell-fermentation quality-control markets.
