Tecan and EMD Biosciences to Co-Market Proteomics Products

NEW YORK, July 15 -  Tecan and Merck affiliate EMD biosciences announced today a collaboration to co-market protein extraction, screening, and purification products.

Under the agreement, Tecan, of Männedorf, Switzerland, and EMD, of   Darmstadt, Germany, will sell a combination of EMD's Novagen-brand reagents for protein extraction and purification kits, and Tecan's Genesis and Freedom EVO liquid handling robots for protein purification. The companies have also formed an integrated technical applications team to support the products.

The companies said they have developed protocols designed to enable users of their technology to use vacuum filtration or magnetic bead separation to purify proteins in a 96-well plate, and to do recombinant protein expression and solubility screening assays.
