Shares of Stratagene gained 9.5 percent to lead all stocks in the BCW Index for the trading week ended Tuesday. The firm's shares have risen 27 percent since hitting a 52-week low on June 27. Stratagene was only one of four companies in the Index to gain ground for the tracking period. Invitrogen and Agilent led the decliners for the week, falling 5.6 percent and 5.3 percent, respectively.
Overall, the Index dropped 1.3 percent. In comparison, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined .8 percent, the Nasdaq dropped 2.8 percent, and the Nasdaq Biotech Index fell 1.6 percent.
