Slight Gain for BCW Index as Markets Recover

A week after the markets took a beating from investors, the BCW Index, along with blue chip and tech stocks, made gains for the week ended Tuesday. The BCW Index rose .6 percent, while the DJIA gained 2.5 percent and the Nasdaq rose 1.7 percent. The Nasdaq Biotech Index was flat for the tracking period.

Among the Index companies, Stratagene posted the biggest gain — 6.8 percent — as the firm's shares rebounded from a 52-week low of $5.65, reached on June 12. Applied Biosystems had a fairly strong week, finishing up 5.8 percent. Meanwhile, Bruker led decliners with a drop of 7 percent.
