NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Sigma-Aldrich said on Tuesday that Metahelix Life Sciences, an agricultural biotech company based in Bangalore, India, will provide technological guidance and applications data for its plant bioscience products under a new agreement.
Metahelix develops traits and technologies for crop protection and improved productivity using a functional genomics platform.
Under the terms of the agreement, the company will provide Sigma-Aldrich with technological guidance at its facility near Sigma-Aldrich’s manufacturing and distribution center in Bangalore, and it will support Sigma-Aldrich customers in Latin America and in the Pacific Rim.
Sigma-Aldrich's plant biotechnology product line includes genomic and proteomic solutions such as whole-genome amplification and RNA purification kits.
Metahelix’ head of R&D, Guatham Nadig, said in a statement that the company will benefit from the visibility of new tools that can be used to develop its plant bioscience business.
Financial terms of the agreement were not released.
