Pyxis Genomics to Develop Genetic Brand for the Other White Meat: Mar 5, 2003

 

NEW YORK, March 5 -- Pyxis Genomics of Chicago today announced an agreement with Maple Leaf Foods of Toronto to create a DNA fingerprinting process for use in the food processing industry.

 

Pyxis will develop a panel of genes in the first phase of a project that will potentially allow Maple Leaf Foods the ability to track the pork food products it sells back to the farm of origin. Maple Leaf, in a statement, said it expects the project to be completed with two years.
