Pyrosequencing Will Distribute Corbett Products in US

NEW YORK, Jan. 14-Pyrosequencing has struck a distribution deal with Corbett Research, the company said yesterday.

Under the deal, Pyrosequencing will distribute Corbett's thermocycling and sample preparation products in the United States, including the four-channel thermocycler Rotor-Gene 3000, the PCR workstation CAS 1200, and other products.

Pyrosequencing will also make an equity investment in Bio-Molecular Holdings, which is the parent company of Corbett Research. The companies did not provide financial details, except to say that Pyrosequencing will own less than 20 percent of Bio-Molecular Holdings, and will have an option to purchase a further stake within the next three years.

Bio-Molecular Holdings is an Australian holding company for Corbett Research and Corbett Robotics.

Pyrosequencing, based in Uppsala, Sweden, manufactures and sells equipment for sequencing, pharmacogenomics and genotyping.
