Proteometrics, Genomic Solutions Pen Software-Development Deal

NEW YORK, Feb. 11 - Proteometrics and Genomic Solutions have inked an exclusive software development agreement, the companies said on Monday.

By terms of the deal, Proteomic Solutions, a new subsidy of Genomic Solutions, will have the exclusive right to develop, support and license Proteometrics' bioinformatics software line. In addition, roughly 12 to 14 Proteometrics staff have joined Genomics Solutions.

Genomic Solutions will continue to develop and promote Proteometrics software as well as develop new products, said Genomic Solutions CEO Jeffrey Williams in a statement.

This new deal follows Genomic Solutions' efforts last fall and this winter to restructure, refocus and cut costs by 35 percent.

Genomic Solutions plans to offer the software products in concert with its other proteomics products, including 2-D gel systems, mass spec and MALDI preparation kits, software, instruments, and reagents.
