Pharsight Gets New Senior VP; Aclara and Zyomyx Recruit Board Members; Lion Names Supervisory Board Head

NEW YORK, Aug. 1 - Pharsight chose Mona Sowiski to become its senior vice president for drug-development consulting, the company said yesterday.

 

Sowiski comes from marchFIRST, an Internet professional-services company, where she led its global health-care practice.

 


 

Zyomyx said yesterday it has tapped Michael Schmertzler and Nick Colangelo to join its board of directors.

 

Schmertzler comes from Credit Suisse First Boston Private Equity and Colangelo comes from Lilly BioVentures.

 


 

Aclara Bioscience has recruited Edward Hurwitz to its board of directors, the company said yesterday.

 

Hurwitz, who spent four years as senior vice president and chief operating officer at Affymetrix, is currently a venture partner at Alta Partners, a life-sciences venture capital company.

 


 

Lion Bioscience said on July 19 that it has named as head of its supervisory board J rgen Dormann.

 

Dormann, 62, helped create Aventis after bringing together Swiss pharma Hoechst and French pharma Rhône-Poulenc. He currently is the head of that company's supervisory board.
