NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – The National Institutes of Health plans to place a call for its Director's Pioneer Award Program some time in August. That request for applications could include changes to the application and review process, NIH said late last week.
The 2010 Pioneer program is aimed at supporting "individual scientists of exceptional creativity who propose pioneering – and possibly transforming – approaches to address major challenges in biomedical and behavioral research," NIH said in the notice.
These research areas could include biological, chemical, computational, engineering, or a variety of other scientific approaches that can have an impact on public health.
NIH also expects the applications to be due in mid-October.
