Nexia to Acquire DNA Sequencing Reagent Maker Axis Labs

NEW YORK, Aug. 31 (GenomeWeb News) - Nexia Holdings will acquire Axis Labs, which is developing a reagent for DNA sequencing, for 165,000 shares of its class C preferred stock, Nexia said yesterday.

The amount of the deal was not immediately known and officials from both companies were not available for comment at deadline.

Axis Labs has been developing Molecular Imprinted Polymers for various commercial applications, including a process to remove BigDye terminators in automated DNA sequencing.

"We have discussed tentative agreements for brand alliances and manufacturing through well-known distribution channels in the DNA products industry" for the product, called Sequester, Kent Johnson, Axis' director of marketing and sales, said in a statement.
