NEWSBRIEF: Bayer to Get Schering s CropScience Stake By June 5

NEW YORK, May 3 - Schering said today it hopes to close the sale of its 24-percent stake in Aventis' CropScience unit to Bayer between May 20 and June 5.

Bayer agreed to acquire the CropScience business from Aventis and Schering for7.25 billion, or roughly $6.63 billion, in a deal that will propel Bayer to the No. 2 spot in the agrochemicals sector.
