NEWSBRIEF: Athersys Pockets $16.2M in Private Stock Placement

NEW YORK, May 13 - Athersys said today it has pocketed $16.2 million in a private stock placement.


National City Equity Partners, Greenleaf Capital Management, and the Biomedical Sciences Investment Fund of the Singapore Economic Development Board joined existing shareholders in the placement, which Athersys will use to fuel R&D in oncology, inflammation, neurobiology, and developmental biology, it said.
