Biomek Automated Tube Bar Code Reader
The Biomek Automated Tube Bar Code Reader allows the processing of open-top, tube-based samples and controls. Integrated with Beckman Coulter’s Biomek Software, the ATBCR establishes positive ID and transfers all data sets associated with a tube or plate during pipetting. It collects data sets during tube-to-plate reformatting, tube-to-tube aliquot sampling, or accessioning. Ideal applications include ELISA plate processing and backup sample storage in environments such as secondary screening, preclinical development, and Phase I and II clinical trials.

Bioimaging
Kodak Image Station In-Vivo F and FX Systems
The Kodak Image Station In-Vivo F and FX systems feature cooled CCD camera technology and selectable multi-wavelength illumination for sensitive, quantitative imaging of luminescent, fluorescent, and radiographic labeled biomolecules in vivo. The system also provides an integrated digital X-ray imaging source and a phosphor-based radiographic imaging screen enabling digital radiography. By precisely co-registering anatomical X-rays of tissues, organs, and whole animals with near-IR, isotopic, or luminescent optical imaging modalities, a significant improvement in anatomical localization of molecular signals is achieved.

Agilent Comparative Genomic Hybridization (aCGH) Platform Featuring High-Definition CGH (HD-CGH) Microarrays
Agilent Technologies introduces HD-CGH custom microarrays for pinpointing cancer-related genetic abnormalities. aCGH is one of the most promising methods for identifying and characterizing DNA copy number changes associated with cancer and genetic disorders. Now researchers can easily design their own CGH microarrays to target specific “hot spots” in the genome. Platform enhancements also include reagents and analytics software updates.

AlphaScan Microarray Scanner
The AlphaScan microarray scanner is a compact and high-performance slide-based scanner for microarray imaging and data analysis of DNA, protein, cell, and tissue arrays. AlphaScan is optimized for single-slide laser scanning of the commonly used excitation dyes (Cy3, Cy5). It also integrates advanced designs in its optical signal processing and motion control systems, resulting in superior performance capabilities when compared to similar instruments. AlphaScan comes with SpotData Pro software for DNA and protein analysis, and is also available with the ArrayVision software package, licensed from GE Healthcare, to support even more advanced analysis.

Nexterion 70mer Oligo Microarraying Kit
The new Nexterion 70mer Oligo Microarraying Kit includes fully optimized microarray slides and reagents for self-spotting, high-quality oligonucleotide microarrays. The slides are coated with an active surface chemistry that is particularly suitable for the covalent immobilization of amino-modified and unmodified oligonucleotides. Benefits of the active chemistry include excellent and reproducible spot size and morphologies, superior signal-to-background ratios, and low non-specific binding. The microarray kit’s individual components cover the most important steps of the microarray process chain: spotting, pre-hybridization, hybridization, and washing.

Transcriptomics
TransPlex Whole Transcriptome Amplification (WTA) kit
TransPlex kits convert total RNA into in vitro cDNA libraries of short, overlapping amplimers that faithfully represent the entire transcriptome of any animal, plant, or microorganism. TransPlex shows little gene- or exon-bias for transcripts up to 10 kb in length, even after extensive RNA degradation. TransPlex kits contain proprietary reagents and protocol sufficient for 24 microarray hybridizations. The protocol is much faster, more reproducible, and less labor intensive than alternative RNA amplification methods, and is scaleable from single tubes to 384-well plates.

DuraScribe Transcription Kits
The DuraScribe T7 & SP6 Transcription Kits produce RNA transcripts (DuraScript RNA) that are completely resistant to RNase A. The DuraScribe T7 & SP6 RNA polymerases, provided in the kits, are mutant forms of T7 and SP6 RNA polymerases that recognize the same transcription promoters as standard T7 & SP6 RNA polymerase and efficiently incorporate 2’-Fluorine-CTP and 2’-Fluorine-UTP as well as ATP and GTP into full-length DuraScript transcripts.

DyLight Fluorescent Protein Molecular Weight Markers
DyLight Fluorescent Protein Molecular Weight Markers from Pierce are the only markers available that allow flexible one- or two-color fluorescent detection with common imaging systems. Each of the nine proteins is labeled with the DyLight 547 Fluor, which replaces Cy3 Fluor, and the DyLight 647 Fluor, which replaces the Cy5 Fluor. The proteins provide a molecular weight range of 6 K-200 K. The markers are optimized for direct visualization of marker proteins after sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and are compatible with Western blotting. They also can be detected by virtually any gel-staining method.
