DOE JGI Integrated Microbial Genomes Data Management System
IMG 1.1 now contains 32 new public genomes and 14 new genomes sequenced by DOE JGI, bringing the total of genomes in IMG to 337. These include 301 bacterial, 25 archaeal, and 11 eukaryotic genomes, of which 36 finished and 75 draft genomes were sequenced by DOE JGI. The new IMG 1.1 features enhanced capabilities to improve the efficiency of the genome analysis process.
Thermo Electron Watson LIMS - Xcalibur Digital Interface
The new new bi-directional digital interface between Thermo’s Watson LIMS and Xcalibur mass spectrometry software is designed to promote compliance with GLP standards and 21 CFR Part 11 electronic records keeping regulations. The Watson LIMS - Xcalibur integration is enabled through an XML-based instrument gateway, which facilitates data transfer between the LIMS and the MS instrument control software.

Applied Biosystems TaqMan Assays for Real-Time PCR
The Arabidopsis TaqMan gene expression assays include 95,000 assays for approximately 26,000 genes, while the Drosophila TaqMan assays include 38,000 assays for approximately 13,000 genes. The initial release is designed around the well-characterized transcripts in the NCBI Reference Sequence Project (RefSeq) database for these genes. The assays run on Applied Biosystems Real-Time PCR systems, including the 7300, 7500, and 7900HT Systems.

Advion’s TriVersa NanoMate is the first system to integrate LC/MS, fraction collection and chip-based infusion in one platform. The versatility of the system allows interrogation of samples using on-line LC/MS and infusion of LC fractions. The system is compatible with LC, micro and nanoLC for low concentration samples. Additionally, TriVersa NanoMate works with most API mass spectrometers.
Applied Biosystems/MDS Sciex 4800 MALDI TOF/TOF
The new 4800 MALDI TOF/TOF mass spectrometer combines TOF/TOF optics technology with the novel OptiBeam on-axis laser, which increases the number of ions directed into the ion path to increase sensitivity. Also, the enhanced QuanTIS precursor ion allows users to more specifically isolate the precursor ions designated for MS/MS. The system uses GPS Explorer software with the Mascot database search engine.

Qiagen BioSprint 15 Ni-NTA and Strep-Tactin Kits
The BioSprint 15 platform is a stand-alone instrument with a small footprint that enables automated parallel purification of up to fifteen high-purity protein samples from prokaryotic or eukaryotic cell lysates. By using magnetic-bead technology, BioSprint 15 kits allow a rapid procedure that can purify up to 100 µg protein per sample in less than 45 minutes.

Illumina MHC Region SNP Analysis Panels
Illumina’s two new SNP-based assay panels are designed to study genetic variation and function in the MHC region of the human genome. The MHC exon-centric panel consists of 1228 SNPs in or within 10kb of protein-coding regions (exons), while a companion MHC mapping panel includes 1,293 SNPs evenly distributed across the entire region. The MHC panels are used in conjunction with Illumina’s bead-based arrays.
