Nanogen Stock Up 8.21 Percent on News of Microchip Permeation-Layer Patent

NEW YORK, Jan. 6 (GenomeWeb News) - Nanogen shares were up 8.21 percent at $6.72 in late-afternoon trading after the company said it won a patent for its chip technology.

 

The pastent, No. 6,838,053, covers  methods of producing a covalently bonded permeation layer on a microchip, to be used in the analysis of biological molecules.

 

It relates to "chemistries used to create the permeation layer, which allows electrochemical products generated at the electrode surface to travel through the layer and into the solution immediately above the electrodes," according to a Nanogen statement.
