NEW YORK, Jan. 4 (GenomeWeb News) - MWG Biotech has sold its lab automation business, including its Theonyx liquid-handling platform, to Greiz, Germany-based Aviso GmbH, the company said today.

The Ebersberg, Germany-based company also confirmed that it shuttered its microarray business at the end of December. MWG said in a statement that it is "still interested in selling certain assets of this business unit."

MWG announced its intention to exit the automation and array businesses last October.

Aviso GmbH will take over MWG Biotech's line of robotics as well as 15 of the company's former lab automation employees. All servicing and warranty services will be continued by Aviso GmbH.

Financial details of the sale were not disclosed.
