Millipore Rises, Illumina Falls After '07 Forecasts

Shares in Millipore rose 9.44 percent for the trading week ended Tuesday, after the firm reported strong fourth-quarter results and predicted 2007 revenue would grow between 24 percent and 26 percent and earnings per share would double (see related article).
 
On the other end of the spectrum, shares in Illumina dropped nearly 10 percent for the tracking period. Even though the firm reported fourth-quarter revenue growth of 163 percent, it forecasted 2007 EPS of $.86, which is significantly lower than the $1.13 previously expected by Wall Street analysts who cover the company (see related article).
 
Overall, the BCW Index gained 1.26 percent for the week. In comparison, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.1 percent, the Nasdaq climbed .9 percent, and the Nasdaq Biotech Index declined .3 percent.
