NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – The metabolomics-focused biomarker company Metabolon said on Tuesday that it has secured an agreement to test materials for the hydrocarbon biofuels developer LS9.
Metabolon said it will use its biochemical profiling service to identify changes in metabolites that occur during hydrocarbon biofuel production.
The focus will be to help LS9 optimize cellular metabolism in its Renewal Petroleum production process.
"As interest in the use of metabolomics has continued to grow, we have seen increased uptake from industry sectors like biofuel production," Metabolon CEO John Ryals said in a statement.
LS9’s technological aims are “well suited” for Metabolon’s biochemical profiling technology because it helps to provide “a picture of the reactions taking place at a biochemical level,” Ryals said.
Having that kind of a picture can have “an immediate and measurable impact on the fermentation processes,” Ryals added, which in turn “creates significant return in greater production and lowered cost.”
Financial terms of the agreement were not released.
