NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – The stocks of Clinical Data, Caliper Life Sciences, Sequenom, and Third Wave Technologies were added to the small cap Russell 2000 Index, which was reconstituted on June 27.
Separately, Illumina’s stock was moved to the Russell 1000, a large-cap index, from the Russell 2000. Joining Illumina in that Index is Hologic, the medical imaging and diagnostics firm that is in the process of acquiring Third Wave for nearly $600 million.
Last week, CombiMatrix said that its shares will be part of the Russell Microcap Index.
Tacoma, Wash.-based Russell Investments realigns the Russell 3000 Index once a year. That group of companies is then further divided into 26 smaller indexes, such as the Russell 2000 and Russell Microcap Index.
