Illumina Signs 15-Year Lease for New San Diego Expansion, Adds 15 Years to Existing Space

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) — Illumina today said that it has signed a 15-year lease for a new 84,000-square-foot facility currently under construction in San Diego that will enable it to expand its laboratory and office workforce.
As GenomeWeb Daily News reported yesterday, BioMed Realty Trust, a real estate investment company focused on the life sciences industries, said the new facility will expands an existing 110,000-square-foot soace that Illumina leases at the University Towne Center submarket of San Diego.
In its statement today, Illumina said it has added a 15-year extension to the lease on the existing property.
The new facility, which broke ground last Friday, will allow for the creation of as many as 1,200 new jobs in the San Diego area, according to BioMed.
