NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Identitas and Akesogen today announced a commercial partnership they said will allow forensics investigators "to generate more comprehensive leads from DNA samples than had previously been possible."
The companies have entered into a licensing deal providing Akesogen access to Identitas' ISAS software, which interrogates SNPs for a profile that describes the physical appearance of an individual. Akesogen will offer an end-to-end genetic analysis package powered by ISAS.
Financial and other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Akesogen, based in Norcross, Ga., provides biorepository services and high-throughput biomarker profiling and genomics analysis for the R&D market. Identitas, a forensics genomics firm headquartered in New York, is developing methods for extracting information from genetic evidence.
