HGS to Offer 8 Million New Shares

NEW YORK, Oct 19 – Human Genome Sciences said Thursday that it would issue a public offering of 8,000,000 additional shares of its common stock, plus up to 1,200,000 shares to cover over-allotments, if any.

HGS expects to use the money raised from this offering for drug development, patent coverage, manufacturing facilities, acquisitions, as well as for general corporate purposes.
