Helicos Names as CSO Former Pfizer R&D Director; Affy Taps New CFO; Biogen Appoints Thermo CEO to Board; and Others

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) — Helicos BioSciences has appointed Patrice Milos chief science officer and vice president. Milos formerly was executive director of global R&D at Pfizer, where she also held various research positions in pharmacogenomics and molecular sciences, Helicos said.


Affymetrix has appointed John Batty chief financial officer and executive vice president, the company said last week.
 
Batty formerly was senior vice president of finance and CFO of Credence Systems, chief operating officer of Network Equipment Technologies, and CFO and vice president of finance at Verilink.

Risa Lavizzo-Mourey resigned from Beckman Coulter’s board of directors on June 1, the company said last week.

 
Stephen Wong has been named chief of medical physics and vice chair of the department of radiology, and director of the bioinformatics program at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Tex.
 
Wong formerly was at the Harvard Center of Neurodegeneration and Repair at Harvard Medical School, where he founded the Center for Bioinformatics. He has also founded the Functional and Molecular Imaging Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Biogen has named Thermo Fisher Scientific president and CEO Marijn Dekkers to its board of directors, the company said last week.

Singulex has named Carl Gordon to its board of directors. Gordon is a partner at OrbiMed, a healthcare-investment company.
