Applera has named George Adam to its board of directors. The firm said the board now has 11 members, and that it expects several to retire over the next few years. The company said it also may need extra directors in the event that it decides to separate its Applied Biosystems and Celera businesses into two distinct groups, an option it has been considering since August.

Ludesi has hired Krisztina Halasz, Anna Kapferer, and Helena Lexander as application specialists.
Halasz formerly was account manager and product specialist at Bio-Rad Laboratories, Kapferer was an engineer at Nonlinear Dynamics, and Lexander was involved in proteomics at GE Healthcare and at Oxford Genome Sciences.

Gene Express has named Larissa Karnaoukhova director of strategic partnerships, a role in which she will oversee business development on the US west coast. Karnaoukhova formerly was a sales manager at VWR International and was a scientist at Invitrogen.

Gen-Probe has named Jorgine Ellerbrock senior vice president of operations.
Ellerbrock previously worked at Invitrogen as vice president of operations. She has also held various positions at GE Healthcare Bio-science and Amersham.

She has BS in microbiology and an MBA from San Diego State University.
