Genomics Collaborative and NetGenics to Build Genotypic Datamart

NEW YORK, Jan 9 – Genomics Collaborative and NetGenics will collaborate to develop an genotypic DataMart that will automatically mine data to look for patterns and interrelationships that could lead to new drug targets, the companies said.

Genomics Collaborative will supply the genetic samples and NetGenics will provide the DataMart technology. This DataMart will be designed to integrate different kinds of data into a central repository in a uniform model, and link it with data from other sources. The model allows high volumes of data to be scanned and analyzed at a single time.

The companies are expecting to make the DataMart the largest library of genotypic data in existence. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

“Our mission is to find and characterize the genetic determinants associated with common diseases, such as asthma, diabetes and prostate cancer," Brent Richter, Director of Bioinformatics, Genomics Collaborative said in a statement.  

" This Genotypic DataMart will allow us to analyze and mine the depository of data we are collecting from our large-scale genotyping projects and to link this to our extensive clinical and medical information collected with our samples. This will be done at the database level rather than at the application level, which is far more efficient.”

The DataMart approach reflects NetGenics’ general strategy to develop integrated informatics platforms using various components.
