Genomic Solutions Partners with NuTec Sciences on Microarray Analysis Software

NEW YORK, July 19 - Genomic Solutions has signed an agreement with the life sciences division of NuTec Sciences to jointly develop an expanded bioinformatics platform for analyzing microarray data from Genomic Solutions' GeneTac microarray system, the companies said Thursday.

The system, which Genomic Solutions will make available during the fourth quarter, will include NuTec Sciences' microarray analysis clustering algorithms, and will integrate these algorithms into Genomic Solutions' Integrator data acquisition and storage software.

The addition of NuTec instruments "further rounds out our GeneTac Biochip System, enabling us to provide robust software tools that take researchers from simple image analysis to comprehensive data analysis, data mining and visualization," Shannon Richey, executive vice president of marketing at Genomic Solutions said in a statement.

Genomic Solutions' GeneTac system includes an arraying robot, a hybridization station, one of several microarray analysis systems, and the Integrator software. The Ann Arbor, Mich., company announced the most recent addition, the GeneTac UC-4 microarray analyzer, last quarter.

NuTec Sciences of Atlanta, has developed several bioinformatics programs for the life sciences, including Gleams, a program that performs imaging and analysis of microarray data, SNPit, a SNP search tool, and SLIMS, a laboratory information management system.
