Gene Logic Sells BioExpress, GeneExpress Subscription to Japan s Daiichi

NEW YORK, March 18 - Daiichi Pharmaceuticals has subscribed to Gene Logic's BioExpress database, Gene Logic said on Monday

The multi-year deal gives the Japanese pharma firm broad deployment to BioExpress information as well as Gene Logic's GeneExpress software system.

BioExpress comprises genomic and clinical data derived from a variety of normal and diseased human tissues, tissues from model animal systems, and human and animal cell lines. GeneExpress was deigned to help researchers mine, analyze, index, and visualize data.

Financial terms of the deal, "facilitated" by Amersham Biosciences KK, Gene Logic's sales and marketing partner in Japan, were not disclosed.

Last week, Gene Logic sold a subscription to its GeneExpress cardiovascular data suite to Artesian Therapeutics. The privately held biopharmaceutical company will use the database as a "primary reference source" in its cardiovascular drug-discovery and -development efforts.
