Gene Logic Lays off 50

NEW YORK, Nov. 12 (GenomeWeb News) - Gaithersburg, Md.-based Gene Logic today announced the elimination of 50 jobs -- in database development and production.

In a statement the company said that the layoffs will result in an increase in its selling, general, administrative costs for the fourth quarter due to severance-related expenses.

The company said that it expects to add positions in contract study services, marketing, and sales, but did not give a target date for an expansion that it said would rebalance its workforce to support its services portfolio.
