Fisher Scientific to Acquire Perbio in Move Toward Proteomics

NEW YORK, June 26 - Fisher Scientific has moved to acquire Swedish reagent supplier Perbio in a move toward proteomics, the companies said today.

Fisher, headquartered in Hampton, N.H., will make a $714 million cash offer for all outstanding Perbio shares and warrants on the Stockholm Stock Exchange, and said it has unanimous support from Perbio's board of directors.

Perbio supplies consumables for protein research and drug production.

"Fisher is one of the most respected names in the life science community, and our focus on proteins has positioned Perbio right at the heart of the biotech revolution," said Mats Fischier, Chairman of Perbio, in a statement.
