NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – Cepheid said today that it has signed a group purchasing contract with Premier, a group purchasing organization that has more than 1,500 hospitals in its network.
The Sunnyvale, Calif.-based molecular diagnostics firm also said that it has signed a preferred vendor pact with the Western North Carolina Health Network. The WNCHN includes 53 acute care hospitals that use Premier as their GPO.
According to Cepheid, the agreements will enable Premier and WNCHN customers to purchase the firm’s GeneXpert multiplex platform and Xpert methicilllin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus tests at pre-negotiated prices.
Further details were not disclosed.
Cepheid's revenues have been increasingly shifting to the general hospital market, after its initial revenue base was built on sales to the Veterans Administration network of hospitals. Two weeks ago, the firm reported first-quarter revenue growth of 76 percent.
