Cepheid, Bruker, and Qiagen Shares All Rise in Double Digits

The stocks of Cepheid, Bruker BioSciences, and Qiagen all gained more than 10 percent for the five-day trading period ended Tuesday.
 
Cepheid led all gainers in the BCW Index for the week with a 12.6 percent rise in its shares. The firm is due to report its third-quarter results on Nov. 1.
 
Bruker BioSciences shares bumped up 11.6 percent after the firm posted strong revenue and profit gains earlier this week. Shares of Qiagen hit a new 52-week high of $23.65 on Tuesday before closing at $23.55, up 11.1 percent for the tracking period.
 
Illumina led all declining shares in the Index with a drop of 10.3 percent for the week. Shares of Affymetrix, which filed additional patent infringement suits against Illumina last week (see Briefs), fell 9.2 percent.
 
Overall, the Index declined .8 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained .8 percent for the tracking period, while the Nasdaq rose .6 percent, and the Nasdaq Biotech Index dropped .3 percent.
