Shares of Cepheid rose 15 percent for the five-day trading period ended Tuesday. The stock led the 18 firms that gained ground during a strong week for the BCW Index and the stock market in general.
 
Illumina’s shares rose 9.7 percent, Qiagen’s rose 9 percent, and Affymetrix’s shares climbed 8.8 percent for the week.
 
Only three firms posted declines for the week, with Sequenom’s stock falling the most at 4.3 percent.
