October 3 — Abstract submission deadline for the 45th annual meeting of the Society of Toxicology, which will be held in March in San Diego.

October 5 — Deadline to apply for funding from NSF for the Instrument Development for Biological Research Program, which supports new or improved instrumentation “likely to have a significant impact on the study of biological systems at any level.”

October 14 — Deadline to submit poster abstracts for the 2006 AUTM annual meeting, to be held March 2-4 in Orlando. Poster topics should be directly related to technology transfer issues, according to the organizers.

November 1 — Full proposals due for NSF solicitation 05-603, the Plant Genome Research Program. This year NSF will focus on “major unanswered questions in plant biology on a genome-wide scale”; translational research from model organisms to economically important plants; and development of technology “to enable discovery in plant genomics.”

November 14 — Abstract submission deadline for the AACR 2006 annual meeting to be held in Washington, DC, next April.

December 1 — Deadline to fill out survey on DNA fragment analysis for the related research group of the Association of Biomolecular Resource Facilities. Findings will be presented at ABRF 2006. Find the survey through this site:
