Avastin's effectiveness against breast cancer is still being debated, but Roche says there's now evidence to show that the drug, in combination with other treatments, has a significant effect on patients with glioblastoma, Reuters reports. Roche reported results of its phase III AVAglio study in which glioblastoma patients were treated with radiation, temozolomide and either Avastin or placebo, followed by temozolomide and either Avastin or placebo. According to Roche, the study shows Avastin improves progression-free survival of glioblastoma patients, Reuters says.
