BioMérieux, Hitachi Partner on MDx Development, Distribution

NEW YORK (GenomeWeb News) – In vitro diagnostics developer BioMérieux has struck a strategic partnership with Hitachi High-Technologies to develop microbiology and molecular diagnostic systems, BioMérieux said today.
The companies will work together to develop new instruments to be made by Hitachi High-Technologies and distributed through BioMérieux’s worldwide commercial network. The partners did not disclose terms of the alliance.
BioMérieux CEO Stéphane Bancel said the company’s strategy through the year 2012 “is to bring full automation to microbiology laboratories around the world.”
