Beckman Shares Rise on Strong Q3 Results

Shares in Beckman Coulter rose 5.6 percent for the trading week ended Tuesday to lead all stocks in the BCW Index. The firm’s shares rose after it reported a 6.3-percent rise in revenue and 31-percent spike in net income for the third quarter. Shares in Bio-Rad Laboratories rose 4 percent for the week after it posted strong Q3 results.
 
Only four companies in the Index lost ground for the tracking period. Agilent led decliners with a drop of 5.5 percent. During the week, Agilent completed the spin-off of Verigy.
 
Overall, the Index rose 2 percent, beating the Nasdaq Biotech Index, which gained 1.4 percent. The broader Nasdaq market rose .4 percent for the week, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed up .6 percent.
