Beckman Coulter to Distribute Automation System for Affy Platform

NEW YORK, Oct. 28 (GenomeWeb News) - Beckman Coulter today said it would distribute an automated gene expression platform developed by Array Automation, a joint venture of Affymetrix and Beckman Coulter that was established in July.

Beckman Coulter will distribute Array Automation's new Gene Expression Automation System, which automates sample preparation and other processes for Affy's GeneChip format and can be expanded to automate Affy' new 96-well High Throughput Array.

Beckman Coulter said it would market the system to GeneChip customers through an early-access program that is currently underway in North America. Worldwide distribution will begin "as the product is commercialized," according to a company statement.
