BD Biosciences Wins Patent On Gene Cloning System

NEW YORK, June 28-BD Biosciences has been granted a U.S. patent for its high-throughput gene cloning system, the company said yesterday.


The company's BD Creator system transfers genes into expression vectors without requiring subcloning or restriction enzymes. Applications of the technology include studies of protein-protein interactions, gene expression patterns and functional genomics.


The United States Patent and Trade Office granted the patent to BD's Clontech division on June 25.
