BCW Index Falls Along with Biotech Stocks

The BCW Index fell 2.2 percent for the trading week ended Tuesday, following the lead of the broader stock market and the Nasdaq Biotech Index in particular, which dropped 5.4 percent during the same period. The Nasdaq fell 4 percent for the week, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 3 percent.

Shares of 12 of the 16 companies in the Index lost value during the tracking period. Molecular Devices led decliners with a drop of 7 percent, followed by Agilent and Waters, which fell 6.2 percent and 5.3 percent, respectively. Stratagene gained 7.9 percent for the week, leading the four stocks that gained ground during the week. It was the third week in a row that Stratagene shares climbed higher.
